Thyme Tea

This plant loves the sun and grows at the foot of the mountains. It has different benefits depending on the way it is consumed, as it receives the sun rays directly. When you consume the thyme plant as a brewed tea, you will see that digestion becomes easier, especially after a meal. Thyme tea can also be consumed by people with cough and bronchitis. When you rinse your mouth with the juice of the plant, you will get rid of bad breath and have healthier gums.

How to Make Thyme Tea at Home

To prepare thyme tea at home, you only need dried thyme leaves and two glasses of water. Here is what you need to do for the benefits of thyme tea;

  • First, boil two glasses of water until it reaches boiling point.
  • Then, throw two teaspoons of thyme leaves into boiling water.
  • The trick here is to cover your container for the brewing process so that the minerals of the thyme do not mix with the air.
  • After letting your thyme brew for 10 or 15 minutes, your tea will be ready for consumption.

Thyme Oil

You can see the benefits of the thyme plant not only as tea, but also by using its oil. Since the use of oil will be realized by skin absorption, its effect will be seen as shortly as tea. Generally, this oil is used very frequently in bone diseases and rheumatism.

How to Make Thyme Oil at Home

Although it is not as pure as thyme oil obtained by professionally squeezing like cosmetic or aromatherapy oils, the process of making thyme oil for general use at home consists of very simple steps.

  • For homemade thyme oil, thyme collected in the season should be dried under sunlight at a temperature not exceeding 35 degrees Celsius.
  • You will see that the thyme leaves start to dry in a short time, i.e. three or four days.
  • After the drying process is complete, you should grind the leaves until they become powder.
  • After the grinding process, take the thyme powder into a small glass bottle and fill it with extra virgin olive oil. After filling the olive oil, it is very important that you close the bottle airtight.
  • The bottle should be kept in a cool room for a month and its mouth should not be opened in any way. At the end of a month, thyme oil will be ready for use.

Thyme Water

Thyme water is used as a mouthwash, to prevent constipation and bloating, and as an antiseptic for open wounds. You can make your own thyme juice at home and use it according to your needs.

How to Make Thyme Infused Water at Home

To prepare thyme juice, you will only need thyme and drinking water. For this, you should start boiling by adding a pinch of powdered thyme to two glasses of water. Strain the thyme in boiling water and let it cool at room temperature. After the thyme water cools down, it becomes ready for use. When you are going to use thyme juice, you should prepare it and you should not keep it for a long time. Otherwise, you will not see the benefit as it will lose its content.

Thyme Drying Tips

  • Before drying them, you should thoroughly remove the stems and garbage.
  • Wash the extracted thyme and leave it on a dry towel until it loses its moisture.
  • Then lay your dried thyme on a large tray and leave it to dry in a cool room.
  • The drying process will take up to a week.
  • After your thyme dries, you can crush it into powder and store it in a glass storage container.
