If you want to consume fresh asparagus in small portions, here are some tips for keeping it fresh for the maximum amount of time.
To keep asparagus fresh, follow these steps, just like you would for a freshly cut flower bouquet:
Cut the asparagus from the bottom (do not pull or break it).
Fill a large jar with 1 inch of water and place the asparagus vertically.
Place the jar on the lid of your refrigerator.
Refresh the water in the bottom of the jar every other day.

The ideal way to store fresh asparagus in the freezer for up to 1 year without losing its color is to first boil it using the blanching technique. Here are the tips for freezing asparagus.
